Senate Bill 2723

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT DECREASING ANY CHILD SUPPORT AWARD IN NO-FAULT DIVORCES, AFTER THE PARENTS HAVE MADE THEIR AGREEMENT AND SAME HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE CHANCERY COURT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. In divorces granted for irreconcilable differences, no court award for child-support against either parent for the benefit of a child, as set out in the agreement between the divorcing parents, shall in any amount or manner be decreased or diminished by the chancery court, without clear and convincing proof of a later change in circumstances.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
